Rose - The most common name which comes in our minds whenever we think of flowers and guess what! it's the most famous flower in the world. 
Also known as the ' queen of flowers ' as well as the ' king of flowers'; roses are to native to Asia and also found in Europe, North America and Africa.

Variety of roses are there varying in types, shapes, size and colours, where each colour is believed to symbolise something. 

Red symbolises love, white symbolises purity, yellow for friendship, pink represents elegance, orange is for enthusiasm, purple, lavender means  'love at first sight' and multi-coloured roses are there.

Black roses


We all have heard about different colours of roses and black one are always considered extra special to talk, as they are rare species of roses.
However, do you know that they don't exist? The roses which appear to be black have a very dark shade of red and hence called black roses.

Blue roses


After the black ones, next, come blue roses. These blue roses look so elegant and are believed to symbolise mystery. 
What's interesting about them is that they don't exist in nature because of some genetic limitations. 
Researchers used genetic modification to create them and they are blue due to a pigment called delphinidin.

• The national flower of U.S is rose as in 1986 President Ronald Reagan signed legislation to make them the floral emblem of U.S.

• The Juliet Rose was sold in 2006 for $ 15.6 million and is the most expensive rose cultivar. David Austin, the famous rose breeder, spent $5 million and 15 years breeding this rare rose variety and named it ' Juliet'.

•  The world's oldest living rose is believed to be 1000 years old which grows on the wall of the Cathedral of Hildesheim, Germany.

• Rose flowers also grow into fruits known as Rose Hips which are berries of red, black or purple colour.

• Rose Hips are considered as a source of Vitamin C and are hence used in making jams and jellies.

• Roses are used in making perfumes because of their sweet scent and are worldwide used as ornamental flowers.
