There are many trees which are known especially for their flowers and Blue Jacaranda is one of them.

• Blue Jacaranda trees are found in South  America, parts of Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. 

• These trees are widely planted because of its attractive and long-lasting pale indigo 
flowers.

• The flowers bloom in spring and early summer and convert into pods after two months.



• These seed pods are unusual in shape and are often used in decorating Christmas trees after gathering and cleaning them.

• The other popular names of blue jacaranda are jacaranda, fern tree and black poui.

• Blue Jacaranda plant has also won the Royal Horticulture Society's Award of Garden Merit. 
Garden Merit award helps the gardeners to choose the right plant for their gardens.

• These trees have medicinal benefits and are used in the treatment of acne, syphilis, hepatitis, skin infections and some venereal diseases too. 

• It is also used for fuel and as a source of wood for fences, carvings, etc.

• Every year, in the city of Grafton located on the north coast of New South Wales, Australia, people celebrate a Jacaranda festival.

This city is famous for its Jacarandas.

• The students in the University of Queensland, Brisbane believe that the blooming season of Blue Jacaranda indicates the time for studying seriously for the exams.

• Among these students, it's also famous as the exam tree or the purple panic because of the purple flowers and panic during the exams.

• At the University of Pretoria, students believe that if a Jacaranda flower falls on a student's head then he or she would clear all the exams.

Do you notice the contrasting beliefs of students in the last two points? Bizarre!

Most amazing fact:  Despite being so beautiful and attractive as well as so much popular in South Africa, 
it's illegal to plant Jacaranda trees in South Africa as they are alien plants and are harmful to their ecosystem and the environment as well.
But as they can live for about two centuries, they are still making the whole Pretoria city,  blue in the blooming season.
